Interactive 3D Wind Hodograph Viewer
Getting Started:
Click blue dots - Load wind data from any radar site
Green dot - Shows currently selected radar
WSR-88D/Terminal buttons - Filter different radar networks
3D/2D buttons - Switch visualization modes
Map Navigation:
Drag - Pan the map
Scroll - Zoom in/out
Hold Shift + drag - Move the 3D hodograph view
Rainviewer radar - Live precipitation (updates every minute)
3D Hodograph View:
Left click + drag - Rotate the 3D hodograph
Right click + drag - Pan the hodograph
Scroll wheel - Zoom in/out on hodograph
Reset View button - Return to default angle
Height colors: Red (0-3km), Green (3-6km), Dark Green (6-9km), Purple (9-12km),
Cyan (12km+)
2D Hodograph View:
Top-down view - Traditional meteorological hodograph
Real-time data - Latest observations from NOAA weather radars
Height progression - Follow the colored line from surface to upper levels
📄 GeoJSON Export/Import:
Download GeoJSON - Export current VWP data as GeoJSON file (Settings → Download
GeoJSON)
Load GeoJSON - Import previously saved VWP data from GeoJSON files (Settings →
Load GeoJSON File)
Data preservation - Exported files contain radar site info, wind observations,
and metadata
Sharing & analysis - Use GeoJSON files in GIS software, research tools, or
share with colleagues
File format - Standard GeoJSON with wind speed, direction, and height data for
each observation
Import compatibility - Only load GeoJSON files exported from VWP Sandbox for
best results
